1. (transitive) to lengthen

   ܘܵܠܹܐ ܠܘܼܟ݂ ܕܡܲܪܝܸܟ݂ܸܬ ܠܵܗ̇ ܬܘܼܢܝܼܬ݂ܵܐ ܐܸܢ ܟܹܐ ܒܵܥܹܝܬ ܡܦܲܪܣܸܬ ܠܵܗ̇.

   wālē lōḵ d-maryiḵit lāh tūnīṯā in kē bāˁēt mparsit lāh.

   You need to lengthen the story if you want to publish it.

   ܒܸܬ ܡܲܪܝܸܟ݂ܸܢ ܠܹܗ ܫܲܪܒ݂ܵܠܵܐ ܕܠܵܚܹܡ ܛܵܒܵܐ ܝܲܬܝܼܪ ܥܲܡܘܼܟ݂.

   ṭurṭāmā aḥčī kē maryiḵ lēh kēḇā.

   Complaining only prolongs the pain.

   ܫܘܼܠܛܵܢܵܐ ܘܵܠܹܐ ܕܠܵܐ ܡܲܪܝܸܟ݂ ܒܓܘܼܪܵܡܵܐ ܒܗܵܕ݂ܹܐ ܐܲܝܟܲܢܵܝܘܼܬ݂ܵܐ ܐ݇ܚܹܪ݇ܢܵܐ.

   šulṭānā wālē d-lā maryiḵ b-gūrāmā b-hāḏē aykannāyūṯā ḥēnā.

   The government shouldn't prolong deciding on this situation any further.

3. to outlive

   ܡܘܼܪܝܸܟ݂ ܠܹܗ ܝܵܘܡܵܢܹ̈ܐ ܒܵܬ݇ܪ ܫܒ݂ܵܒ݂ܹܗ.

   muryiḵ lēh yāwmānē bār šḇāḇēh.

   He outlived his neighbour.

   (literally, “He prolonged the days after his neighbour.”)

     So the people served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders who outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great works of the LORD which He had done for Israel.
