Etymology
From Proto-Indo-Iranian *šćádma (stem *šćádman-), from Proto-Indo-European *sḱéd-mn̥ (“one that covers”), from *sḱed- or *sked- (“to cover”). Equivalent to छद् (chad, “to cover”) + -मन् (-man).
