-számra (adverb-forming suffix)
- In a number or mass corresponding to a multiple of the round number defined by the base word. Usually used with round numbers, such as száz (“hundred”), ezer (“thousand”), etc.
- Az emberek százszámra zúdultak be az üzletekbe. ― People flocked to the shops by the hundreds.
- Per unit of quantity, measure or time specified in the base word.
- Darabszámra fizetik a munkámat. ― My work is paid by the piece.
- In a large amount, by the unit of measure expressed in the base word.
- Zsákszámra veszik a lisztet. ― They buy the flour by the bag.
- A cikk megjelenése után tucatszámra kaptuk a leveleket. ― After the publication of the article, we received letters by the dozen.
