- A taxonomic genus within the family Tyrannidae – found from Guatemala to northern Argentina.
Usage notes
- Although one would expect a genus name ending in -ites to be masculine, the only adjectival specific epithet with a gender-specific ending is feminine in type species Piprites pileata.
