Reconstruction notes
- Only Tibetic preserves this numeral as expected. No Proto-Bodish form is given by Bodt, but given the cognates outside Bodish, this numeral must have existed in Proto-Bodish times.
- Dakpa-Dzala replaced the vowel in this word with a ~ o for unknown reasons. Bodt reconstructs their proto-form as *nos.[1]
- Bumthangic uses an unrelated word zon for "two" of uncertain origin.
Descendants
- Tibetic
- Dakpa-Dzala
- Dakpa: ནའི (na'i /nai35/)
- Dzala: ནོའི (no'i)
