Reconstruction:Proto-Turkic/tūŕ
Proto-Turkic
Reconstruction notes
Nişanyan and Doerfer postulates that the Proto-Turkic word comes from an earlier *tuwuz (*tubuŕ), explaining the aberrant forms of Chuvash тӑвар (tăvar) and Mongolian давс (davs), which is a loanword from Turkic.
