Tanjong Katong

Etymology
From Malay Tanjong Katong (“Turtle Point”, literally “Cape of Leatherback Turtle”). Katong referred to a now-extinct species of sea turtle once found in the area, and may also describe the rippling effect seen along a shoreline caused by a sea mirage.[1]
