cokernut
English
Etymology
This spelling was introduced by the London customhouse to distinguish more widely between this and other articles spelt much in the same manner.
Noun
cokernut (plural cokernuts)
- Archaic form of coconut.
- 1911, Henry Valentine Knaggs, The Healthy Life Beverage Book, C. W. Daniel, page 50:
- The cokernut (sometimes spelt "cocoanut," though it has, of course, no connection with cocoa) is a sort of "ugly duckling" when compared with other nuts, and few people partake of it regularly.
