Borrowed from Spanish incienso. The spelling reflects a sound shift of Spanish /sj/ to /s/, which affected some Spanish borrowings, especially those containing two consecutive syllables containing /sj/ (e.g. pasensiya from paciencia, and prangkisa from franquicia).
