wake word (plural wake words)

  1. (computing) A word or phrase that activates a dormant device when spoken by the user.
  2. A word or phrase that activates a dormant hypnotic suggestion that takes a person out of their trance state, or deactivates all their current hypnotic suggestions from affecting them, to make them awake and alert again.
